PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE -May 2009

Greetings,

The song “Meet Me In St. Louis” will take on new meaning next week. That’s when scores of CREW members will descend on our great city for the 2009 CREW Network Spring Leadership & Council Meeting from June 4-5. We are honored to serve as host for members who will travel from many corners of North America – from Seattle to Boston, from Miami to Calgary.

It’s only fitting that these meetings will take place at the Chase Park Plaza. Marcia Niedringhaus and staff are certainly busy preparing to showcase this grand dame. It’s also located in the heart of our city, just a stroll to Forest Park and all its attractions and minutes from so much more.

I encourage you to take advantage of all the Spring Council Meeting offers. I hope to see many of you at the joint luncheon between our members and CREW Network delegates which will take place on Friday, June 5, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Chase. There will be ample opportunities to network, a chance to catch up with old friends as well as to make new connections.

While I may be biased, many other chapters look to St. Louis as a leader and role model in CREW’s success. Let’s show them firsthand why CREW-St. Louis continues to thrive.

Many thanks to all our members who have volunteered for the Dine Arounds and other activities during the meeting. Special thanks to Nancy Cripe for organizing the troops.

We also are just a few short weeks away from our biggest, annual charitable effort – the 12th Annual CREW/Safe Connections Golf Tournament, which will be held on June 22 at Forest Hills Country Club. The money this event raises is critical to the operations of Safe Connections. This organization makes a huge difference in their lives of women looking to escape the cycle of violence that cripples their lives and, in many cases, the lives of their children.

With this in mind, please do all you can to solicit golfers and sponsors for our event. There’s still time to donate items for our auction and the raffle, too. If you have any questions, please contact our Golf Chairs: Colleen West, (314) 962-3145, and Linda Luecken, (636) 397-1634.

Before I close, I want to welcome the newest member of CREW-St. Louis:

    • Pam Boelhauf, Rosemann & Associates.

Yes, June is a busy month so we all may need a vacation in July or August. I am looking forward, though, to seeing you at the Chase and on the golf course. These are just two places where we will continue to be “Successful Together.”

Best regards,
Amy Garrison
