Commercial Real Estate and Design Combined:
Creating and defining the business world of tomorrow

Mr. Black will discuss the inherent problems with the traditional building model and explore some of the nine transforming keys to drive change.

Featured Speaker:
Bill Black,
Strategic Business Solutions Director, Haworth and
Co-author of
The Commercial Real Estate Revolution

Like many other industries, the design and construction industry is facing new challenges and opportunities in a rapidly changing world. Adapting to change, meeting those challenges, and capturing these opportunities require a new way of thinking.

A 2009 Wiley publication, The Commercial Real Estate Revolution, documents the discoveries of a group known as mindshift and looks at the various levels of dysfunction inherent in the traditional commercial construction and real estate industry. One of its co-authors, Bill Black, Strategic Business Solutions Director for Haworth, Inc., brings together a compelling set of case studies, statistics and methodologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), Lean Construction and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).  By leveraging these tools in the delivery of commercial real estate, all stakeholders ultimately gain with higher levels of sustainability, financial performance, and a healthier, holistic environment for the human beings who occupy them.

A very special thanks to Haworth for handling speaker coordination and expenses.

Backpack Drive: The Little Bit Foundation www.thelittlebitfoundation.org provides clothing and school supplies for 13 St. Louis city schools.  CREW supports Little Bit’s efforts twice a year.  In September, we are doing a backpack drive.  Little Bit is specifically collecting girls’ full size, new backpacks for both younger (pre K – 3rd grade) and 4th – 8th grade styles for older girls.  They really like pink and purple colors.  If you prefer to make a monetary donation in lieu of a backpack, Little Bit will gladly accept any amount at the September meeting.  Thank you for your continued support!
