PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE -MARCH 2009
Greetings,
Time flies. Hard to believe we are speeding into summer but that’s partially because there is so much taking place.
We are just days away from one of our biggest events – CREW Careers. This will be our fourth year for this great program, and it just keeps getting better. On Saturday, April 4, some 40 young ladies will see firsthand the opportunities in commercial real estate when we showcase the Delmar Loop, “One of the 10 Greatest Streets in America.” This hands-on workshop not only gives us a chance to introduce interested teens to our profession, we also serve as role models as these young girls prepare for their futures. I look forward to seeing so many of you on Saturday when we reach out and really touch the lives of these young ladies.
We also want to ensure that we continue to provide outstanding educational programs for you. Our program on Tuesday, April 14, will be invaluable as Bob Whiting shares his insights on building effective, memorable presentations. It’s a can’t-miss program since we all can hone our skills. Bob has been winning business for 15 years by constantly improving his presentation skills as an investment advisor. I’m willing to bet that the recent turmoil in the investment arena makes that as tough of an assignment as winning business in commercial real estate.
We think Bob’s expertise is so important that we made this a morning meeting to jumpstart your day. It’s from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Forest Hills Country Club, site of the annual CREW charity golf outing. If you haven’t registered, do so soon. You can find more information on our website or look for your e-invite in your Inbox.
Meg Mannion, our community service chair, thanks all members for supporting The Little Bit Foundation. The items donated at our March meeting go a long way in helping the children.
You can keep it up by bringing items to our April meeting. Meg reports that The Little Bit Foundation is looking for some new items:
· Wide rule loose-leaf paper
· Colored pencils (12 in a package)
· Markers (10 in a package, thin or thick)
Again, if anyone is interested in helping at the warehouse (located at CBC High School), they can contact Elise Tierney at lilbit1@cbchs.org. If you would like to volunteer at a school, please contact Rosemary Hanley at lilbit2@cbchs.org. School visits start at the warehouse to load up the car at approximately 9:15 a.m. and last until around 11:30 a.m.
As a reminder, The Little Bit Foundation needs to expand and is looking for donated space. If you have or know anyone who has about 5,000 square feet of warehouse space in the vicinity of Highway 40 and 270, please consider the foundation. This would support a great cause while also benefitting owners with a great tax benefit.
There are two more super events on the calendar. I’ll be providing more details as we move closer to these events but wanted to put the bug in your ear now.
First, we have the honor of hosting the 2009 CREW Network Spring Council Meeting. This will be held from June 4-6 at the fabulous Chase Park Plaza. It’s our time to shine as we showcase this jewel and show our fellow CREW members from around the country just how involved and committed we are to this industry and to CREW Network.
Nancy Cripe is spearheading the effort to find volunteers for a wealth of activities. She’s looking for help at the Hospitality Desk (June 4 and 5), for the NetWalk/NetRun (June 5) and for hostesses for a Friday Dine Around (June 5). Contact Nancy now to sign up for these activities: (314) 743-1849 or ncripe@poe-inc.com.
We also are busy preparing for the 12th Annual CREW/Safe Connections Golf Tournament, which will be held on June 22 at Forest Hills Country Club. Please consider bringing a bottle of wine to the April program for our raffle drawing, and any items you may have for our silent and oral auctions. You can also contact our Golf Chairs to provide these items: Colleen West, (314) 962-3145 or cwest@nbwest.com, and Linda Luecken, (636) 397-1634 or lluecken@mckelveyproperties.com.
It’s a pleasure to welcome two new members to CREW-St. Louis:
- Linda Maguire, Assured Title
- Stacy Robben, HOK
I’m confident that Linda and Stacy will find value in CREW and understand that we all can be“Successful Together.”
Time does fly when you’re busy but especially when you are having fun. Thanks to all of you for making CREW such a great – and fun – organization.
As always, if you have questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at 314-259-5828 or agarrison@sonnenschein.com.
Best regards,
Amy Garrison
