PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - March 2010

Greetings,

The first two months of 2010 have come to a close. So far it’s been a blur but in a good way. I am seeing more opportunities in the market than last year, which keeps me running to catch up.  And even though clients are more demanding, I believe this shows signs of pent-up demand for development and improvements that should lead to some deals!  Now, if we can only get funding mechanisms working again.

Our April Event focuses on that very topic: The State of Real Estate Lending 2010. Our Program Committee has put together a great combination of lenders to talk about the current economic conditions and restrictions, as well as the role all of us may play in them. I’m looking forward to a sophisticated discussion sure to provide food for thought. Whether you’re an expert or just a neophyte when it comes to the ins-and-outs of financing, what an opportunity to better understand the dynamics of the capital markets and its impact on commercial real estate! 

As we begin to see the market recover, think about the people you know and trust in CREW.  These experienced professionals are able to fill many roles in your next deal. Consider them as trusted partners for your company and for you.  Take the time now to use CREW to expand and build your network so that you have a stable of capable associates to assist you.

Did you know that CREWNetwork is awarding generous college scholarships to women studying in fields of commercial real estate? Promising students can apply by April 30.  By referring our best and brightest, you support CREW’s mission to advance women in commercial real estate while also advancing a young woman in her chosen career.

As each of you build your own career, think about the leadership opportunities offered by CREW membership.  On May 11, our Members Only meeting will focus on Stories of Successful Women.  We will start the evening with a short cocktail party to explore ways to build your success in CREW as a leader.  It’s your chance to learn more about participating on the Board or in other leadership positions with CREW. We hope you will make plans to join us for that event.  Your leadership goes a long way as we Build Together in 2010.
